This means that you can avoid having to transport your horse.

X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, pressure-sensor pad: we have a whole range of technology that will enable us to make an accurate diagnosis.

We can provide classic treatments as well as IRAP and PRP therapy, both natural techniques.

We can also administer shockwave therapy.

Medical imaging: x-ray/ultrasound

The use of medical imaging has become indispensable in diagnosing lameness and in pre-purchase assessments.

We were pioneers in the use of mobile digital x-ray equipment (on-site at the stables) in French-speaking Switzerland and have more than 20 years of proven experience in this field.

We have two x-ray systems and three ultrasound machines, all of which can be easily transported to your stables.

Endoscopie et Gastroscopie - RéSoVet Équins

Endoscopy/Gastroscopy

Endoscopy is used to examine the respiratory tract.

This is used in the event of a problem cough, discomfort on exertion, nasal discharge or nosebleeds. The endoscope allows us to gain an in-depth view of the area and take samples.

Gastroscopy is used to view the interior of the stomach.

It is carried out using a special, longer, endoscope.

It enables us to diagnose gastric ulcers, among other things, and is the only way we can reliably diagnose this condition.

These lesions occur quite often and can cause loss of condition, reduced performance or chronic colic.

Biological therapy

RAP et le PRP are two types of natural treatment for lameness.

IRAP (Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein) is an anti-inflammatory protein that is naturally present in the blood.

The IRAP technique involves using anti-inflammatory agents that are already present in the blood, which are then concentrated and re-injected to treat issues such as:

  • arthritis
  • osteoarthritis
  • synovitis
  • tenosynovitis

PRP (platelet rich plasma) is also produced in the horse’s own blood:

It is plasma that has been enriched with platelets.

It has been successfully used to treat:

  • tendinitis
  • sprains
  • suspensory ligament damage on the fetlock

These two techniques are both natural and autologous (i.e. they use the horse’s own tissue).

The blood is drawn, processed and re-injected as a preparation tailor-made for the horse.

Pressure-sensor pad for saddles

Our preoccupation with musculoskeletal issues and back pain has given us a keen awareness of problems caused by an unsuitable saddle.

We have a flexible pressure-sensor pad that enables us to measure the pressure distribution on the horse’s back.

Just like with human beings, a horse’s back can be the source of many aches and pains, sometimes leading to gait problems, discomfort on exertion, refusal to work and reduced performance.

Sometimes, an inadequate or unsuitable saddle can cause or aggravate back pain.

An accurate diagnosis requires careful examination using medical imaging techniques, as well as a saddle assessment.

The pressure-sensor pad can identify anomalies in weight distribution, which can then be corrected by saddle modifications (carried out by a saddler) or by the use of suitable corrective devices.

Shockwaves

Shockwave treatment is successful in treating bone and ligament damage (sprains, proximal or suspensory desmopathy, among others) and in the event of deformed joints in foals.

Shockwave therapy is long-lasting, carried out over a number of regular sessions and uses no chemicals or drugs.

The treatment encourages healing of the connective tissues and provides pain relief.
